Vestnik Chuvashskogo Gosudarstvennogo Pedagogicheskogo Universiteta im. I. Ya. Yakovleva. Seriya: Mekhanika Predel'nogo Sostoyaniya (Mechanics of Limit State) is a peer-reviewed scientific periodical that introduces the Russian and international scientific community to new results of fundamental and applied importance in the mechanics of the limit state.
The journal has been published since March 2007. It was founded by Dyuis Danilovich Ivlev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor and Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation. The journal is issued four times a year (quarterly).
The editorial council and editorial board comprise Russian and international scholars from leading research institutions and universities. Editor-in-Chief — B. G. Mironov; Executive Editor — Yu. N. Radayev. The full composition is given in the Editorial Board section.

The journal was founded in 2007 on the initiative of Professor D. D. Ivlev in order to bring together scientists working on the limit state of solids and on inelastic deformation. The journal preserves this purpose to this day — to serve as a forum for new, topical and original results.
The theory of the limit state and load-bearing capacity of bodies and structures is one of the outstanding achievements of twentieth-century mechanics. Its foundations were laid in the works of Coulomb, Tresca and Saint-Venant, and its development was shaped by Prandtl, Mises, Geiringer, Reuss, A. A. Gvozdev, S. A. Khristianovich, A. Yu. Ishlinsky, V. V. Sokolovsky, A. A. Ilyushin, Prager, Hill, Koiter and others. Continuing this tradition, the journal publishes research on the limit state, the theory of plasticity and creep, viscoelasticity and viscoplasticity, the statics of granular media and rocks, fracture, stability and other related areas.
